The Celebrating Success Breakfast
Every Fall WSHC hosts the Celebrating Success Breakfast. The coalition comes together to honor individuals who have moved their lives from homelessness to housed with the support of member agencies. This event also recognizes businesses and organizations that have made significant contributions to Coalition member agencies and the clients they serve. Click on Thank-You Letters to read the words written by our Honorees, in gratitude to the service providers who honored them.
Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Concert and Volunteer Fair
This is an awareness event that targets local youth by inviting them to listen to music, learn “facts and myths” about hunger and homelessness, and find out ways that they can volunteer. The event is open to all ages and boasts performers such as Yellow Light Go, Uncle Daddy, and others.
Coalition Meet & Greet Events
This bi-annual event is designed for the direct service staff of our member organizations to connect and network with staff at other organizations in our Continuum of Care! We are invite 1 – 2 representatives from each agency to attend, and provide lunch and fun networking activities! This is a great opportunity for staff to get to know other direct service providers.
Project Homeless Connect
Each winter as the weather turns cold and it begins to rain, temporary Winter Shelters are set up for the homeless residents on the Westside of Los Angeles. Before the Winter Shelters close, the WSHC organizes Project Homeless Connect in collaboration with the shelter operators. This one-night event brings representatives from the local non-profits and city and county social service agencies to the shelter to speak with the homeless residents about seeking services. The Faith Community, comprised of several different religious organizations that have become members of the WSHC, gather donations to distribute throughout the evening.
The SuperBowl-A-Thon
Annually WSHC hosts the SuperBowl-A-Thon on the first Friday of February. This event brings together community members, business and non-profit agencies for fundraising for the Westside Shelter & Hunger Coalition. Come join us for an afternoon of bowling and raise money for a great cause!
